Frequently Asked Questions

Can I attend Spring Thaw if I am not a member of Northwest Bears?

YES!  Like most Northwest Bears events, Spring Thaw 2012 is open to members and non-members alike.  Some Spring Thaw activities require registration while others are open to the public, see the Events page for details.  For non-members, the Full Weekend Package includes a one-year membership in Northwest Bears.

Is Spring Thaw open only to bears?

No, Spring Thaw is open to anyone 21 years old or older who wishes to attend and have some fun.  Spring Thaw events are social gatherings designed for bears, their friends, and admirers.  For the purposes of this event, bears are generally husky hirsute gay or bisexual men.

What are the benefits of registration?

Registration provides access to the following:

  • Saturday Puget Sound Lunch Cruise
  • Sunday Morning Brunch
  • Drink specials at participating bars

If I am not registered can I participate?

Do I have to stay at the Host Hotel?

No, however staying at the Renaissance is highly recommended.  Several events including Registration, Vendor Maul, Sunday Brunch, and the Silent Auction are held at the hotel.  The shuttle service only stops at the Renaissance and participating event locations.  And don't forget, we have negotiated a special event rate at the hotel that includes a discount on the room and parking as well as free WiFi.  See the Hotel page for further details.
